The Capricorn Coast has many wonderful personalities. There is Enid 95+ chatting from her balcony as the sunrises, untll she has a phone check-in with her daughter. Laurie, walking his daily route up past Enid’s, where he stops to have a chat with her. Dory does bike laps up and down Wreck Point hill to keep fit and watch the dolphins in the bay. Cheryl at The Sisters each morning keeps family and friends company and an ear open to help with advice. Pete, unpacks the world’s problems barefoot at 5am coffee before his wife wakes and needs help. These are just some of the Capricornia region’s seniors.
This week we celebrate Senior’s Week, a purposeful week to acknowledge the 11.3% or just over 5,000 of our community aged 70 plus (ABS 2021) and the value they add to our community.
Livingstone Shire Council are partnering with a range of community organisations and businesses to offer morning teas and music, high teas, book week and a Senior’s Expo. Events designed to give back to the members of the Cap Coast who give to us.
